How much does counseling cost? Counseling is an investment. It is an investment in your personal health. When you don’t feel well physically, you seek a doctor. When you don’t feel well emotionally a counselor can also offer relief from pain and suffering. Like any investment, counseling costs money. Try to think of counseling as an investment in yourself and in your family. Most things that people spend money for are usually for necessities or items to improve the quality of life, to increase pleasure or satisfaction. A great deal of money spent in families is to feel better or "enjoy life." Before deciding not to get counseling, you should also ask what is the cost of not getting counseling. People who are depressed spend much more for health care. Panic attacks are very expensive with trips to the emergency room. Depression often costs trips to the doctor for exhaustion and not feeling well. These trips often cost co-pays and on going prescriptions that only alleviate the symptoms. In home counseling then becomes helpful. Believing that the family setting is the best place to resolve family issues, counselors go into family's home one-three times per week to assist families in growth and overcoming difficulties. Counselors identify and use the family's existing strengths and resources by involving the family as a partner in the decision-making and goal-setting process. |
